*During the Opium war alot of countries in Europe and America they were trading drugs with China. There economy was becoming weak because they werent paying any taxes becuase they was making alot of money. After a while China didnt want to trade with the European colonies and the United States because there economy was going down. China also decieded that they didnt want to trade any more with Great Britian. That was the cause of the war and the other nations were making alot of money off of them because alot of people wasgetting addicted to it. The opium war was called "The Opium war" becuase that was what they were trading ; Opium.

* The cause of World War I was the assaniation of Franz Ferdinand. Him and his wife was killed by a guy that was from Serbia. Then they wanted to fight Hungary. Once they did that most olf the countries in Europe started to declare war on each other. They used nationalism in order to winthe war. Each nation workedamongest themselves in order to outsmart the other nation. Germany had alot weapons. They had machine guns and everything. Some countries tried to side with each other. They even formed alliances. The triple alliance was formedby Germany, Great Britian, and France. Eventually they broke up and fought againist each other.

Film lesson:"Mountains of the Moon"

*The film "Mountains of the Moon" is about a bunch of British explorers who go to Africa in search of the Nile river. They hire a bunch of men to go on the trip with them. They travel by land and sometimes by sea. On there way they meet a lot of men. What they try to do is make them just like hem and change there custom. They believe that there way of living is the best and God left it up to them to teach the others to be just like them. So they teach them how to act, how to speak proper, and how to live. They don't realize that what they are doing is a wrong and not a right. At the end of the movie the guy discover the source to the Nile River but his friend didn't believe him. He ended up dieing and thats when they realize that he was right.

Karl Marx and Communism

* Karl Marx idea of communism was basically that everyone that worked got equal pay. Communism is basically when the government owns all your properties and everyone that works gets equal pay. Marx saw communism as a good thing and wanted it to take control of most of the world. basically he wnated the government to owneverything and they people have nothing even if it was theres.

Karl Marx and the Industrial Revolution

* Karl Marx didnt like the Industrial Revolution becuase of the way people were getting paid and stuff. There was alot of child labor going on and unequal rights happening during this time. the creation of factories and fater transportation, so thatwas basically the good thing. Karl marx was a communist. Basically he believed thgat everyone gets equal pay and they wont be treated Unfair. He believed that the Industrail Revolution was bad because of the way things were functioning. It inspired him because he saw the way people were treated during this time. many people couldnt even read or write because they were at work or they couldnt go to school because they were too tired. so he believed it was a bad thing.

Nationalism & The Creation Of Italy

*What is Nationalism?
Nationalism: is basically when the people of your nation share common beliefs and cultures. Meaning that they share the same language, similar relgion , currency etc. I am nationalistic because I share the same language as my friends and we have the same currency. We do this because we all live in America. What I do that proves that I am Nationalistic is that when I buy things I use dollars(American money) and also when I am in school I speak English.
* Creation of Italy!
Italy use to be part of the Hungarian Empire. the Hungarin empire also had a couple other countries as well. After World War I , the countires that made up this empire wanted to have there own language and country. So they seperated and then Italy became Italy, aswell as Hungary, Germany, Czech, serbia etc. Before this happened though Italy wasnt really Italy. The other countries that made up the Austro Hungarian Empire also all shared the same culture, language and beliefs. After they sepearted thats when they became there own nations with there own government and belief.

Simon Bolivar & Latin America Revolutions

*Why is Simon Bolivar so famous?
Spain controlled many of the countires in South America. They saw that France and America had there own form of government. They then realized that it was timeto do something about it. Simon Bolivar was a military leader. He helped lead some countires in South America such as Ecuador,Colombia, Peru, Boliva, venezuela...etc to be free fromthe spanish people and have there own formof government.
*Why is there a country named after him in South America?
There is a country named after him because he helped free Peru. Peru was the last place that he helped free from the spanish. The southeastern partof Peru then became Bolivia.
*Who did he help Defeat and what was hefighting for?
Bolivar helped defeat the spanish people. The South American countries were still under Spain's control. Bolivar wanted his country as well as the other countires in South America to be free. So he led a army andwent on to freedom.
* What influenced him in his quest for Revolution?
What influenced him was America and france. After his wife died he went to Europe to visit France and Italy. He then went to America and saw that theyhad there own form of government and they were free. so he knew it was time tofree his country as well as other countries and thats exactly whay he did.

The Rights:
* The rights that Jefferson is talking about are the rights that are stated on the Declaration of Independence. Thomas Jefferson stated that " All man are created Equal, and that we have the right of Freedom,Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness". Basically what he is trying to say is that being an American gives you the right of a lot of thing and also that you are free and have the power to do certain things.
The Government:
* According to the Declaration of Independence I believe that the power of the Government comes from the people. If the people don't agree with there government they have the power to do something about it for there own safety. Its like the system of Checks and Balances everything has to work out in order for it to be good. Government is just a system that we have in order to keep everything in control and in order at all times. Its basically there for our protection and pro vending our country from chaos. The people make this happen. We vote for our President. Its up to us to vote for a good leader to make this things happen. Basically what John Locke is trying to say is that men has to power to pick and overthrow our Government. If were not happy with it we have the power to try to do something about it.

Copernicus and the trial of Galileo

What is the geocentric theory?
* The geocentric theory basically states that the earth is the center of the the universe. Copernicus proved that this theory was wrong. The planets including earth revovles around the sun. What copernicus basically did was that he tooka telescope and he looked at the sky and saw that the planets was orbiting around the sun and that the earth was not at the center ofthe universe.
What is the Heliocentric theory?
* The heliocentric theory basically states that the the sun is at the center of the universe but the planets moved in perfect circles. This theory was wrong. The earth doesnt move in perfect circles, each year the earth moves closer to the sun.
The trial of Galileo:
* Galileo believed that copernicus was right. When he looked at through the telescope he saw that copernicus was right. The church didnt want him to agree with copernicus so they decieded to take him to trial. When they took him to trial they made him saw that copernicus theory was wrong even though he knew and believed that copernicus was correct. He had to do this or the church wouldnt like him any more.

Scientific Revolution:
The scientific revolution is basically when people were discovering new ideas of science. Scientist had different theorys of how science worked. For example Issac Newton explained the law of gravity and how it worked. Aristotle was another scientist who had a theory. He said that heavier objects fell first and then the lighter objects fell. Galileo another proved him worng. He said that different size objects all fall at the same speed. Scientist would hear about theories and they would try to prove and disprove that there theroy actually worked. They used the scientific method in order for them to do that. They would do alot of experiments and obervations. Alot of scientist also believed that the earth is the center of the universe. After a while people started to find out that, that wasn't true.Alot of scientist got there ideas from the Romans and Greeks and also from the bible.
Experiment:
One example of an experiment that uses the scientific method is the one that Galileo did. Basically Aristotle said that heavier objects fall faster then lighter objects. Well Galileo decieded to prove him wronng. What he did was that he went to the Leaning Tower of Pisa and he started to throw rocks all of different sizes. He proved Aristotle wrong. All of the rocks fell at the same speed, it didn't matter if one was heavier then the other. This is an experiment thnat was conducted by Galileo that used the scientific method.

Evolution vs Creation

Evolution:
The Theory of evolution is basically that everything evolved from another thing. For example humans evolved from monkeys. Darwin went to this island and he saw finches. He went to another island and saw the same finches but they had different beaks. He then went to another island and saw that they also have different beak. That's when he first came up with the theory.Evolution is supposedly proven by scientist. That's how the first humans evolved and many other creatures in this world.

Creation:
The Theory of creation is basically that God created this universe. God made light, darkness, day and night. He also created the seas and the land. God created man and then he created woman. Which was basically Adam and Eve. They then reproduced and then they reproduced and that's how everything else came to be. God basically created a couple of things and once e made humans they were on there own after that.

My Belief:
I actually believe in creation not in evolution. To me creation makes way more sense then evolution. Maybe its because I am religious and i believe in God. Evolution to me honestly sounds pretty stupid because how can we evolve from other animals and such. Yes over time we change but it would take way too long for that to happen. Also something had to put that animal in this earth, so God had to create it. I don't know but to me creation makes way more sense.
